I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 25 years of experience in the fields of mental health and substance use counseling.
My focus is treating adults individually in a supportive, collaborative, affirming space. I practice from a client centered, eclectic approach and primarily utilize CBT and harm reduction techniques. I strongly encourage laughter with clients and in my own life journey.
So whether you are looking at a life transition, grieving a loss, dealing with a chronic illness, depression, anxiety, or worried about substance use in your life, together we can begin the process of examining what is holding you back from reaching your goals, and help you shift to a place that brings you fulfillment.
I want to hear your story.
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
Many individuals can experience dependence or are finding their pattern of substance use is causing concern or disruptions in their lives. Utilizing a Harm Reduction approach, we will find a path towards reducing the negative consequences of substances or work towards abstinence, at your pace and in a collaborative, non judgmental and supportive manner.
Most people will experience a loss sometime in their life. Whether it is loved one, a pet, or a relationship, or significant life changes, these losses take time to process. Working with a counselor and finding support systems and coping mechanisms can lead to healing. Along the way, having someone to work with means you do not have to walk this journey alone.
Harm reduction strategies in therapy are aimed at providing a supportive, non judgmental space for individuals to explore and find their way to health and well-being as they determine it. It is a client centered, client directed and collaborative path that the therapist walks with their client.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a treatment approach that focuses on challenging and changing unhelpful thoughts and behavior patterns. Together we can work to recognize negative and irrational beliefs and behaviors, improving emotional regulation, and help you develop effective personal coping strategies.
Social work supervision is an important step in developing who you are as a clinician, honing your skills and of course obtaining your clinical license. In the state of Texas, 3000 hours of clinically relevant work is required, with 100 hours of supervision in no less than 2 years. As a board approved clinical supervisor, I offer both group and individual supervision from a relational and developmental perspective, in a safe and nurturing environment.
